Pre-Tied 2-Hook Paternoster Rig

15lb Fluorocarbon Leader

Is this rig only for whiting?        

No. Whiting is one of the primary species the rig was designed around and it is an excellent option for presenting worms, pipis, prawns and other small baits to them, but the two-hook paternoster configuration is useful for many other species around Australia. Depending on location, the same rig can be used for species such as bream, flathead, leatherjacket, garfish and a variety of smaller reef and bottom fish.

What is the difference between the #6 and #4 rigs?        

Both models are tied using the same 15lb fluorocarbon leader and use Ghostpoint Offset Mutsu Hooks, so the main difference is hook size. The #6 is particularly well suited to smaller and finer baits where a compact hook helps maintain a natural presentation. The #4 provides a slightly larger hook for larger baits or when targeting bigger fish. Bait size and profile should be one of the main considerations when choosing between them.

How do I attach a sinker?        

The leader below the lower hook is deliberately left without a fixed sinker connection so you can finish the rig to suit your own fishing style. A common option is to tie a loop into the end of the leader so sinkers can be quickly looped on and off, but you can also add your preferred sinker clip or simply tie the sinker directly to the leader.
