Bite Science Ghostpoint Float Line Rigs

Bite Science Ghostpoint Float Line Rigs are ideal for bait anglers who want to present natural baits through the water column rather than fishing them hard against the bottom. They are particularly well suited to boat anglers floatlining for snapper around bays, reefs and offshore areas, while also providing a versatile bait presentation for other inshore, reef and pelagic species.

The two hook configurations allow anglers to choose between the adaptable bait presentation of twin snelled Octopus Hooks or a traditional three-hook gang for long whole baits.

Purpose-Built Floatlining Rig    

The Ghostpoint Float Line Rig is purpose-built for presenting natural baits through the water column with minimal weight. Rather than holding the bait hard against the bottom, the rig allows the bait to sink and move more naturally through the water, making it ideal for floatlining for snapper and a variety of other inshore, reef and pelagic species.

12G Running Lumo Sinker    

A 12g lumo sinker runs freely on the leader between the rolling swivel and the lumo bead positioned above the skirt. The light running weight assists the bait to sink through the water column while retaining the natural presentation that makes floatlining so effective.

Lumo Bead Sinker Stopper    

A lumo bead is positioned between the running sinker and the lumo skirt, acting as a protective stopper that prevents the sinker from repeatedly striking and damaging the skirt. The bead also complements the other lumo components used throughout the rig.

Lumo Skirt    

A lumo skirt is positioned immediately ahead of the hook and bait presentation, adding movement and visual attraction as the rig works through the water. The skirt complements the natural bait rather than replacing it, creating an additional visual element around the presentation.

60lb Leader    

Both Float Line Rig configurations use 60lb leader, providing a robust connection between the main line and hook system for targeting powerful inshore, reef and offshore species.

Approximately 70cm Total Rig Length    

The rig measures approximately 70cm from the rolling swivel to the hook section, creating a compact and convenient ready-made floatlining system that combines the leader, running sinker, protective bead, skirt and hook arrangement in one complete rig.

Quality Rolling Swivel    

A quality #4 rolling swivel is fitted at the top of the rig, providing a convenient connection to the angler's main line while helping reduce line twist as the bait moves through the water or the rig is retrieved.

Two Hook Configurations  

The Ghostpoint Float Line Rig is available in two different 5/0 hook configurations to suit different baits and rigging preferences. Anglers can choose a twin-hook snell using Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks or a traditional three-hook gang configuration for long whole baits.

Twin 5/0 Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks    

The standard Float Line Rig uses two 5/0 Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks in a snelled configuration. The short-shank, wide-gape Octopus design is particularly well suited to snelled bait rigs and allows the two hooks to be positioned through different sections of the bait to achieve secure bait placement and good hook exposure.

5/0 3-Hook Gang Option    

The Gang version uses a traditional three-hook 5/0 gang configuration designed for presenting long, straight baits such as whole pilchards. The three hooks can be distributed along the bait to provide secure bait placement and good hook exposure.

Chemically Sharpened Ghost Point    

Both hook configurations use Bite Science Ghost Point technology, with chemically sharpened points designed for fast, clean penetration. This gives anglers the same Ghostpoint hook technology available throughout the dedicated hook range in a complete ready-to-fish floatlining system.

Nanoslip Hook Coating

How do I fish a Ghostpoint Float Line Rig?    

Connect the rolling swivel to your main line, rig your preferred bait onto the hooks and allow the rig to work naturally down through the water column. The 12g running sinker provides enough weight to assist the bait to sink while retaining the natural movement required for floatlining. Depending on current, depth and where the fish are feeding, the rig can be allowed to work progressively deeper through the water column rather than simply being dropped directly to the bottom.

Should I choose the twin-hook or gang-hook version?    

The best option largely depends on the bait you want to use and how you prefer to rig it. The twin 5/0 Ghostpoint Octopus Hook version provides greater flexibility when positioning hooks through different bait shapes and profiles. The 5/0 three-hook gang is particularly well suited to long whole baits such as pilchards, allowing the hooks to be distributed along the length of the bait for secure placement and good hook exposure.

Is this rig only for snapper?    

No. Snapper are a major target for floatlining and an ideal application for the Ghostpoint Float Line Rig, but the same natural bait presentation can be used for a variety of other inshore, reef and pelagic species. Depending on location and conditions, this can include mulloway, kingfish, Australian salmon, tailor, mackerel and other species that respond to naturally presented baits.
