Bite Science Ghostpoint Twin Hook Snell Rigs

Bite Science Ghostpoint Twin Hook Snell Rigs are ideal for bait anglers who want the convenience of a professionally pre-tied twin-hook presentation while retaining control over how the rig is weighted. They are particularly suited to anglers using longer baits such as pilchards, squid, strip baits and fish fillets for snapper and other estuary, inshore, reef and offshore species.

The configurable terminal end makes the range useful across very different environments, from fishing virtually unweighted in shallow low-current water through to heavily weighted presentations in deep water and strong tidal flow.

Pre-Tied Twin Hook Snell Rig  

The Ghostpoint Twin Hook Snell Rig provides anglers with two pre-tied Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks on approximately 1.5 metres of leader, creating a convenient ready-made rig for presenting larger baits without the need to tie a twin-hook snell from scratch. The two-hook configuration is particularly useful with pilchards, squid, strip baits, fish fillets and other longer bait presentations where two hooks provide secure bait placement and multiple hook-up points.

Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks    

Each rig uses Bite Science Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks featuring a short shank and wide gape that makes the pattern particularly well suited to snelled multi-hook rigs. Unlike a circle hook, the Octopus pattern is designed to provide direct, positive hook-setting performance, making it a versatile choice for anglers fishing a wide variety of natural baits.

Chemically Sharpened Ghost Point    

Ghost Point technology provides a chemically sharpened hook point designed for fast, clean penetration. The pre-tied rig gives anglers the same Ghostpoint hook technology available in the dedicated hook range without requiring them to tie their own twin-hook snell.

Nanoslip Hook Coating    

The Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks feature Bite Science NanoSlip coating, providing a low-friction finish to assist penetration while also improving corrosion resistance for regular saltwater use.

Belgian High-Carbon Steel Hook Core    

Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks are manufactured from high-quality Belgian high-carbon steel for consistent strength, controlled flex and dependable performance under load.

Short Shank and Wide Gape    

The short-shank, wide-gape Octopus design provides excellent bait presentation and makes the hook particularly well suited to twin-hook snelled rigs. The design allows the hooks to be positioned along longer baits while retaining an open gape for effective hook setting.

Approximately 1.5m Leader    

Each rig provides approximately 1.5 metres of leader, giving the angler plenty of working length between the hooks and their mainline connection. The additional leader length also provides flexibility when configuring the rig for unweighted, lightly weighted or heavier sinker presentations.

Unattached Quality Rolling Swivel    

A quality rolling swivel is supplied with each rig but is deliberately left unattached. This allows the angler to configure the leader and sinker arrangement to suit water depth, current and their preferred fishing style rather than being restricted to one fixed rigging configuration.

Three Weighting Options    

The adaptable design allows the rig to be fished unweighted in shallow or low-current water, lightly weighted by running a small ball sinker on the leader before attaching the supplied swivel, or configured for heavier tidal conditions by attaching the swivel to the leader and running a larger sinker above it on the main line using a suitable sliding sinker system such as an Ezy Rig-style sinker clip.

Lumo Bead Included    

A green lumo bead is supplied loose with the rig, allowing it to be incorporated into the angler's preferred rigging configuration. The bead provides an additional visual element while maintaining the flexibility to assemble the terminal end of the rig according to fishing conditions.

Four Hook and Leader Options    

The range progresses from 4/0 hooks on 40lb leader through 5/0 on 50lb, 6/0 on 60lb and 8/0 on 80lb. This allows anglers to match the hook size to the bait profile as well as the target species and fishing conditions. Smaller hooks can provide a more natural presentation with thin strip baits or squid candles, while the larger sizes provide greater hook exposure when using substantial whole fish baits such as yakka or mullet.

Ready-Tied but Customisable   

The time-consuming part of the rig is already completed, with two Ghostpoint Octopus Hooks correctly positioned and tied on the leader. The terminal end remains customisable so the angler can decide how much weight to use and where to position it, combining the convenience of a pre-tied rig with the flexibility normally associated with tying a rig yourself.

Why isn't the swivel already tied onto the rig?        

The rolling swivel is deliberately supplied unattached so you can configure the rig to suit the conditions. In shallow water with little or no current you can fish the rig unweighted. When additional weight is required, a small ball sinker can be run on the leader before tying on the swivel. For deeper water or stronger tidal flow, the swivel can be tied to the leader and a heavier sinker can be run above it on the main line using a sliding sinker clip. This allows one pre-tied rig to cover several different fishing situations.

Why use two snelled hooks?        

Two hooks allow longer baits such as whole pilchards, squid, fish strips and fillets to be supported at multiple points rather than relying on a single hook. The hooks can be positioned through different sections of the bait to help achieve a secure and natural presentation while providing two potential hook-up points when a fish takes the bait.

Which size Twin Hook Snell Rig should I choose?      

Choosing the right hook size largely depends on the size and profile of the bait you are using. For thinner baits such as strip baits or a squid candle, the 4/0 can provide a more natural presentation without overpowering the bait. As bait size and thickness increase, the 5/0 and 6/0 provide progressively larger options. For substantial whole fish baits such as a whole yakka or mullet, the 8/0 can provide better hook exposure around the larger bait profile. Target species, fishing conditions and required leader strength should also be considered, with the range progressing from 40lb leader on the 4/0 through to 80lb on the 8/0.
