The Bite Science Optix combos are designed for lure anglers who appreciate specialist equipment and want a properly matched rod and reel setup without paying the price normally associated with premium finesse tackle.

The 2–4kg combinations are purpose-built for finesse soft plastics and hard bodies targeting species such as bream, trout, redfin, Australian bass and estuary perch, while the 3–6kg combination provides additional versatility for flathead and other medium estuary species.

The 6–10kg combination takes the same responsive Optix concept into heavier lure applications for larger estuary and inshore predators.

Optix is equally relevant to an experienced lure angler who recognises the value of quality componentry and a newcomer wanting to step directly into specialist equipment rather than starting with a basic general-purpose combo.

30T Graphite Rod Blank

Every Optix combo features a responsive 30T graphite rod blank with a crisp, fast action developed specifically around modern lure fishing. The responsive construction provides the light and direct feel required for working soft plastics, hard bodies and other artificial lures while allowing anglers to detect subtle changes through the blank.

Genuine Fuji K Guides

Optix rods are fitted with genuine Fuji K guides, providing premium-quality line management suited to modern braided-line fishing. Combined with the responsive 30T graphite blank, the Fuji componentry reinforces the specialist nature of the Optix rod rather than treating the rod as a basic component of the combo.

8+1 Stainless Steel Bearings

Every Optix reel features an 8+1 stainless steel bearing system, contributing to the smooth and refined winding feel of the combination. The bearing configuration includes two line roller bearings to provide additional support where the fishing line enters the reel.

Smooth Carbon Drag System

The Optix reel uses carbon drag washers and has been developed to provide smooth and progressive drag performance. This is particularly important in the lighter Optix combinations where anglers may be fishing fine braided lines and light leaders for powerful fish.

Specialist Rod and Reel Matching

Every Optix combo pairs an Optix rod with the appropriately sized Optix spinning reel to create a balanced setup for its intended line class and fishing application.

The 2–4kg rods are matched with the finesse-oriented 2000S reel, the 3–6kg rod with the versatile 3000 and the heavier 6–10kg rod with the 4000, giving anglers a purpose-matched setup straight out of the box.

Modern Low-Profile Grip Design

The 2–4kg and 3–6kg models feature a modern minimalist grip and reel seat arrangement that complements the lightweight finesse design of the rods. The reduced-profile construction creates a clean, contemporary appearance and a comfortable connection between the angler and rod during repeated lure casting.

Low Start-up Inertia Reel

Optix reels require very little initial effort to begin winding, producing a light and responsive feel from the first movement of the handle. This low start-up inertia complements the responsive Optix rod particularly well during finesse lure fishing where the angler is constantly casting, retrieving and manipulating lures.

Infinite Anti-Reverse

Infinite anti-reverse provides immediate engagement when pressure is applied to the reel handle, reducing backwards handle movement before engagement and contributing to the direct and responsive feel expected from a specialist lure fishing setup.

Screw-in Reel Handle

The Optix reel features a screw-in handle that provides a positive connection into the drive system and complements the reel's direct and refined winding feel.

Specialist Equipment Without the Premium Price Tag

At $189 RRP, Optix combines the same high-quality rod and reel platforms available separately into a purpose-matched package at an exceptional price. With the Optix rod retailing separately for $129.95 and the Optix reel for $99.95, anglers receive specialist componentry, responsive performance and a refined overall setup without the price normally associated with premium finesse equipment.

What makes the Optix different from a normal rod and reel combo?

The Optix combo is built from the same dedicated Optix rods and reels that are available individually rather than using simplified components developed only to reach a combo price. This gives the customer a responsive 30T graphite rod with Fuji K guides matched to an 8+1 bearing reel with low start-up inertia, smooth carbon drag and infinite anti-reverse. The result is a specialist lure fishing setup rather than simply an affordable general-purpose rod and reel package.

Which Optix combo should I choose?

Choose either 2–4kg/2000S combination for dedicated finesse fishing, with the 7'6" model providing additional length for casting and line control and the 7' model providing a more compact all-round finesse setup. The 7' 3–6kg/3000 combination provides a versatile step up for larger soft plastics, hard bodies and medium estuary species, while the 6'6" 6–10kg/4000 combination is designed for heavier lures and larger estuary and inshore predators.

Why is the Optix combo such good value at $189?

The Optix combo uses the same specialist components available individually, with the rod retailing for $129.95 and the reel for $99.95. That represents $229.90 in individually priced equipment combined into a purpose-matched $189 setup.

Bite Science is focused on making high-quality finesse tackle accessible to more anglers, and Optix is a perfect example of that philosophy. Rather than reducing the quality of the rod or reel to achieve the combo price, anglers receive the same responsive 30T graphite rod with genuine Fuji K guides and the same smooth 8+1 bearing Optix reel. The goal is simple: give more anglers access to specialist finesse equipment without the premium price tag.
